E*rock:

I feel this song is a good representation of what I was searching for with the album Conscious. Using small sounds, field recordings and live instruments I was attempting to create an electronic pop record for home listeners. I chose the name Conscious because of the process of recording on the computer you become aware of every little pop and piece that is used to build the rhythms from the ground up, but also the mood I was going for is very subdued like the conscious state just after you wake up from a nap. You’re aware of everything in a very vivid way, colors and details are magnified, but also in a way that is blurry. It’s meant to flow very organically when you listen from a distance, and not be too forward, so that you can listen while drawing or working. Then when you take a closer look, like pond water in a microscope, you see all sort of other things moving in there within the seemingly simple overall.
